Details

Advanced Surface Engineering, Inc.TFE is a new thin surface coating of pure PTFE (similar to Teflon) that is applied using a low temperature deposition process to produce a coating whose thickness is controllable down to the submicron level. According to the manufacturer, the product can produce a surface coating with exceptional adhesion and electrical and mechanical properties that can be applied to most materials, metals, ceramics, polymers, or glass without the need for a high temperature cure.

These controllable and repeatable thin film coatings use no binders or solvent as required in a spray application. The coatings are applied with no over-spray or high build-up in critical dimensions and can eliminate heat damage to a customer's parts, as well as application of coating material to areas not desired to be coated. Available in precise dimensions and tolerances for use by a variety of industries, the manufacturer states that the product may be used in applications that include release coatings, barrier coatings, and low-friction coatings.

According to the manufacturer, the coatings also possess exceptional electrical properties including high electrical resistance and high breakdown voltage, with low dielectric constant and refractive index.
