Flame Spray System
This gun was developed to take advantage of the uniform coating properties of the Thermal Spray Process. Powder in the canister is fed by gravity through a metering valve and is drawn, at reduced pressure, into an aspirator chamber. From the chamber, the powder is propelled through the flame, where it melts and is deposited on the work in the form of a coating.
The gun can spray metal, ceramic, cermet, and exothermic powders. According to the manufacture, blowing air and vaporization cause only a trace amount of powder loss, resulting in high deposit efficiencies.
The gun can spray coatings that are later fused, or coatings that are used "as-is". This gun's gas head construction is said to make it extremely resistant to backfire. While the gun is designed primarily for hand-held operation, it is also suitable for production use. A rugged tool post fixture is supplied with the gun to permit mounting on a lathe or other traversing mechanisms.
