SUR/FIN 2000: Trivalent Chromate for Zinc

Luster-On Products Inc.ridescent is a hexavalent-free, trivalent chromium-based, single-dip chromate for zinc. The film is said to have exceptional corrosion protection exceeding such specifications for iridescent processes as ASTM B-633, Type II. The steady-state chemistry assures repeatable and uniform greenish, slightly iridescent coatings throughout the chromate's lifetime.

The chromate product operates at a concentration of 10 to 15% v/v for 30 to 90 seconds. Its operating temperature range is 130° to 150°F and its pH ranges from 1.8 to 2.2. The manufacturer recommends a nitric acid pre-dip prior to the Tridescent solution to help maintain proper pH levels. Finally, this film is capable of providing up to 125 hours of salt spray protection.
