Heat Cleaning
While controlling the oxygen content of the oven atmosphere, the oven is heated to a temperature which causes the coating to evolve into a fume. The fume is discharged through a thermal oxidizer for conversion to allowable emissions. During the process, care is taken not to allow the parts to reach high temperatures. This relatively low-temperature process is ideal for bulk processing of paint racks and fixtures. It is also very compatible with cleaning of tooling used in injection molding and extrusion. The process temperatures allow complete removal of residual plastic, while not affecting the metallurgical properties of the tool steel substrates.
At MET-CYCLE, all parts are inspected after the Heat Cleaning process. In most cases, parts are spray washed with high-pressure detergents, rinsed, and coated with a water-based rust inhibitor prior to packing for return to the customer.
