Specialty Coating Systems Debuts New-Generation Omegameter SMD 650 Ionic Testing System

Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) announced recently the launch of the Omegameter SMD 650, the next-generation, software-controlled Omegameter ionic contamination test system.

A self-contained system, the Omegameter is an industry standard for accurate, efficient and practical quality assurance testing. The system identifies the presence of ionic contamination on bare and assembled printed circuit boards and other electronic components, and provides an accurate and repeatable method for determining cleanliness on location. Additionally, the Omegameter provides immediate process control results, eliminating the need for outside laboratory testing, and verifies proper cleanliness of surfaces prior to the application of conformal coatings or potting compounds. The system complies with current industrial specifications such as ANSI/J-STD-001 and IPC-TM-650, and obsolete military specifications, e.g. MIL-STD-2000A.

• Onboard computer provides software operation
• Software monitors and records the solution temperature, replacing the need to manually measure the temperature with a thermometer.
• Step-down feature that lowers the test cell, making it easier to load parts.
