Advanced Lubricity Coating for Medical Guidewires

SurModics, Inc.addition to the PhotoLink line of modification coatings for medical devices is a lubricious formulation developed for stainless steel and nitinol guidewires. The PhotoLink coating process involves a light-activated chemistry that covalently bonds to nearly all medical-grade materials. The clear and colorless coating—even after application—significantly reduces static friction, which is often associated with other hydrophilic coatings.

An added benefit of the coating is the fact that each of the coating's characteristics, including lubricity level and thickness, can be customized to meet individual needs.
