Aerospace/Airline Forum: Vertical Flow Fume Scrubbers

KCH Services Inc.er line consists of six types of scrubbers in various horizontal and vertical configurations. The Phaser and Phaser III vertical flow packed tower fume scrubbers allow the use of a stack or centrifugal design fan. The Omni and Omni III series vertical flow fume scrubbers are available in both single- and extended-pack units and operates up to 12,000 CFM. The Hedron series are horizontal fume scrubbers. According to their manufacturer, these scrubbers use gas/liquid mass transfer or absorption to transfer gas-phase chemicals that happen to be in the airstream into a liquid scrubbing medium. This is the first step in a two-stage process that eventually leaves the acid fumes absorbed by the wash water.
