AESF Aerospace / Airline Forum Preview: Southwest Companies Acquires Thermal Spray Facility

The Southwest Companies, Inc., (Tulsa, OK), the parent company of Southwest United Industries, the parent company of Southwest United Industries (a metal finishing company) as well as Southwest Aeroservice, Inc. and Plasma Coating Corporation, has purchased the Miami, FL facilities of Flame Spray, Inc. (San Diego, CA).

Flame Spray is an FAA Repair Station serving the turbine engine overhaul market in South Florida. It has grown from a captive thermal spray shop operating within the former Greenwich Air Services facilities to a standalone 16,000 square foot facility offering complete thermal spray capabilities to many customers primarily serving the aerospace industry.

Southwest United Industries, Inc. is a certified metal finishing company providing non-destructive testing, shot peening, plating, grinding, anodizing and painting services to the aircraft/aerospace and medical industries. Southwest Aeroservice, Inc. is an FAA Repair Station, using thermal spraying, welding, plating, grinding and machining to repair aircraft component parts. The company also applies thermal spray coatings to newly manufactured aircraft parts. Plasma Coating Corp. applies thermal spray coatings to aircraft and aerospace parts as well as paints Teflons and dry film lubricants for other applications in the aerospace industry.

The company is looking forward to opportunities to complement the Flame Spray thermal spray processes by introducing chrome plate replacement technologies developed by Southwest Aerospace.
