Case Study: Automotive Paint Finishing

Source: Munters Corporation - DH Division

The customer upgraded painting operations at their southern California facility, triggering the requirement to add abatement equipment for controlling emissions of paint solvents to the environment. Munters turnkey solution was to supply and install a rotor concentrator system to concentrate 55,000 scfm (35000 Nm3/h) of exhaust down to 4200 scfm (2700 Nm3/h) and destroy the solvents in a small oxidizer. Munters' system removes 95% of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the paint booth exhaust.

Benefits
The main benefit of using a rotor concentrator is to save on operating costs. Munters system concentrates large exhaust volumes containing low concentrations of VOCs into a small concentrated stream that can be efficiently destroyed in an oxidizer.

The customer will save $100,000 per year in fuel using Munters system as compared to the competing technology, an RTO.
