Chromate Finishes for Aluminum
E-Chrome 880 is a light iridescent yellow to brown finish that is designed to produce maximum corrosion resistance for chromate finishes on aluminum alloys. Meets Mil-C-5541-A. The manufacturer states that the finish can provides exceptional protection for aluminum surfaces and serve as a base that inhibits undercoat corrosion of organic top coats. The finish meets Mil-C-5541-A and has a low electrical resistance. The granular product is used at 0.75- to 2.5-oz/gal of water at 65° to 100°F.
E-Chrome 881 is a clear to light iridescent finish that is said to have good protective qualities and exceptional paint bonding characteristics on all aluminum alloys. The finish has low electrical resistance. The granular product is used at 1- to 2-oz/gal of water at 65° to 100°F.
