The CrPur uses select ion transfer technology with application specific membranes to remove cation contaminants such as iron, copper, nickel, aluminum, and zinc from decorative and hard chrome plating baths and hexavalent chrome anodizing baths. In addition to removing cation impurities, the purifier can also oxidize trivalent chrome to hexavalent chrome, thereby purifying the entire process tank.

According to the manufacturer, this product can extend bath life, providing savings in disposal and replacement operational costs. This can also help reduce the potential liability associated with treatment, transportation, and disposal of a hazardous spent bath. The manufacturer also states that, because this product can provide a more stabile process bath with lower levels of cation impurities, it can offer a more uniformly plated or anodized surface, fewer rejects, a shorter plating or anodizing time, and plating with lower power consumption.
