U.S. Specialty Color Corporation manufactures chrome-based conversion coatings for aluminum alloys. Their Specialty Coat coating has been modified to allow finishers to use the same single-component product to produce a gold/dark yellow coating that meets Mil-5541 requirements as well as to produce a true colorless/clear coating, according to U.S. Specialty Color Corporation.
The Specialty Aurous 19 coating has been approved by the military under QPL-81706. U.S. Specialty Color Corporation says that this easy-to-use powdered chromate conversion coating enables users to meet Mil-C-5541 for maximum corrosion protection as well as low electrical resistance.
