Commercial Steel / Curtis Metal Finishingy offers a family of specialized organic coatings and sealers that can enhance the mechanical and physical properties of fasteners and small stampings when applied by proprietary electrodeposition (E-Coat) methods. This technology is used in automotive interior and exterior applications. The manufacturer has the capability to E-Coat fasteners from #8 diameter tapping screws to 0.75-in.-diam. (19.1 mm) bolts, as well as internally threaded products, small stampings, and extruded parts.

This electrocoating technology offers 72 to 500 hr salt spray corrosion resistance. Desired corrosion resistant properties are controlled by various substrates and/or post treatments, which are applied utilizing high-volume, state-of-the-art equipment. T

In addition, in order to control the mechanical characteristics of organic coatings it offers, the manufacturer employs a computerized system that analyzes the torque/tension characteristics of fastener finishes. This allows the manufacturer to predict how coatings will perform during assembly operations, and ensures consistent, batch-to-batch finishing.

E-Coat processes do not contribute to hydrogen embrittlement, and have less bridging than dip or spray liquid or powder coating. The processes also uniformly coat recesses without filling, and provide uniform thickness, smooth coating with no sags or drips, and consistent torque properties.
