Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (PRWEB) March 25, 2009 -- Side wall flashing specialist Flashing By Design has launched a complete line of pre-formed galvanized steel flashing components specifically designed to save you time on the job site and ensure the proper installation of your fiber cement siding required by the manufacturer. These flashing components also enhance the appearance of the finished project.
Flashing By Design is offering the factory-fabricated, factory-paint finished, galvanized steel flashing in NINE of the most popular colors used by leading siding companies throughout the USA.
The exact-match colors offered are Arctic White, Autumn Tan, Cobblestone, Khaki Brown, Monterey Taupe, Navajo Beige, Sandstone Beige, Timberbark, and Woodstock Brown.
All of Flashing By Design products are manufactured from 28 Gauge G90 galvanized steel and come pre-finished with Valspar's "WEATHER X" Silicone Polyester paint coating which carries a 30 Year Warranty. Valspar's WEATHER X paint combines the durability of ceramic and select inorganic pigments with the strength of a proprietary silicone polyester resin formula to deliver an industry leading paint finish. A clear protective film is applied to help prevent damage during shipping, handling, or installation. Once the flashings are installed the clear film is removed.
Flashing By Design manufactures EIGHT unique flashings designed by siding installation experts to meet the requirements of all fiber cement siding manufacturers, safeguarding the product warranty while ensuring a weather tight seal and aesthetically pleasing installation.
An industry first, Flashing By Design's unique patent-pending SLIP SHEET. Designed to be installed behind the butt joints, the slip sheet design meets the siding manufacturers requirement of extending three inches both directions. There is a 1/4 inch 90% bend on the top to aide in preventing wind driven rain from entering through the top portion of the butt joint and speed up installation of the siding panels.
Another industry first is a unique patent-pending 2-INCH TRIM FLASHING designed to maintain a two inch minimum clearance between the siding and an adjoining roof or any flat surface that would come in contact with siding edge, for example a stairway, deck, sidewalk, or driveway. The siding rests on top of a one inch deep "shelf" then the color-matched caulking is placed over the edge of the siding sealing the siding to the two inch trim flashing. In a roof-to-wall application - where the siding is held back two inches, for example - the product also serves as a counter flashing since most shingle tins don't extend up the house wall enough to hold the siding back two inches. The flashing has a two inch nailing flange to ensure proper water shed, and a smooth bottom edge to protect shingles from sharp edges.
Flashing By Design manufactures three sizes of DRIP CAPS. A z-wall flashing used between the upper and lower panels of 4-foot by 8-foot fiber cement siding. A one inch wide for atop one-inch-wide trim boards that are placed above windows, doors, and band boards. A one and a quarter inch for above windows and brick molding.
Flashing By Design's BRICK LEDGE FLASHING is made with a smooth rolled hem strengthening the exposed edge so it won't warp and aides in reducing exposed sharp edges once installed.
Flashing By Design's INSIDE CORNER FLASHING resembles the shape of a W. It has a one and a quarter inch nailing flange with a one inch face for the siding to sit against. It is designed to speed up installation by not having to cut down trim boards. The nailing flange assures there is no moisture intrusion. It also creates a convenient channel to hide all types of wires, for example cable tv/satellite and telephone.
Flashing By Design's L-BEND FLASHING resembles the shape of an L. This product is designed to be used where ever fiber cement siding will come in contact with stucco, brick, or stone as required by the leading fiber cement siding manufacturers.
Flashing By Design's KICK-OUT FLASHING is designed to be installed under the first row of shingles adjoining a sidewall. Its purpose is to direct water away from the sidewall and to satisfy any local building code requirements for kick-out flashing.
