Ion Exchange Resins for Water Treatment Systems

Four ion exchange systems have been developed, the VWS, Liftbed, Rinsebed, and Multistep, to join the existing Lewatit resins. The coupling of the Lewatit ion exchange resins with counter-current systems has resulted in the Lewatit MonoPlus, a range of monodisperse ion exchange resins. These resins are said to offer a number of advantages over the alternative heterodisperse resins, including enhanced pressure drop, increased operating capacity, optimized kinetics, and greater mechanical/osmotic/chemical stability. According to the company, MonoPlus is performing in both conventional co-current and Lewatit WS systems, as well as in applications ranging from traditional softening to condensate polishing.
