John Cockerill India Inaugurates Advanced Thermal Spraying Rolls Coating Facility At Taloja

John Cockerill India today inaugurated its Rolls Coating Facility at Taloja, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of its Value Services offering and reinforcing its commitment to supporting the steel industry with advanced lifecycle solutions.

The facility is equipped with New-Gen High-Pressure High-Velocity Air Fuel (HP-HVAF) coating capability for steel processing rolls. Established as a dedicated roll surface engineering platform, the workshop brings together advanced coating technologies, precision grinding and finishing, dynamic balancing, inspection and quality control capabilities under one roof.

The investment strengthens John Cockerill India's ability to support steel producers with specialised roll refurbishment and coating services designed to improve operational reliability, extend roll service life, enhance strip quality and increase productivity across steel processing operations.

The facility combines John Cockerill's expertise in steel processing technologies, furnace performance and roll applications with the thermal spray coating expertise from Advanced Coating, a recognised specialist as pioneer since 1985, in advanced surface engineering solutions from Belgium. Together, the two companies bring a comprehensive approach to roll performance, covering assessment, diagnostics, refurbishment, coating selection, finishing and lifecycle support.

Speaking on the occasion, Frederic Martin, Managing Director, John Cockerill India Limited, said: "The opening of our Rolls Coating Facility at Taloja represents an important step in the development of our Value Services activities in India. By establishing the New-Gen HP-HVAF coating capability for steel processing rolls, we are bringing advanced surface engineering expertise closer to our customers and strengthening our ability to support them throughout the lifecycle of their assets. This investment reinforces our commitment to delivering solutions that improve performance, reliability and operational efficiency across the steel industry."

Pierre-Philippe Janssen, CEO, Advanced Coating S.A, added: "We are proud to partner with John Cockerill India in establishing this important capability. By combining Advanced Coating's expertise in thermal spray technologies with John Cockerill's deep understanding of steel processing operations, we are creating a strong platform to support steel producers with highperformance coating solutions. This facility will provide customers with access to proven technologies, local service support and solutions engineered to improve reliability, productivity and long-term asset performance."

The Taloja facility has been developed to provide customers with a single accountable partner for roll performance. Beyond coating application, the service offering encompasses site roll inspection, engineering and customer process diagnosis, precision grinding, coating application, finishing, validation and ongoing lifecycle support. This integrated approach enables solutions tailored to specific operating conditions and process requirements.

The facility will support steel producers across India and South-East Asia with locally available expertise, reduced turnaround times and access to advanced surface engineering solutions. It is particularly suited for applications where resistance to wear, corrosion and demanding operating environments is critical to maintaining process stability and product quality.

The inauguration of the Rolls Coating Facility further strengthens John Cockerill India's position as a long-term partner to the steel industry, supporting customers in improving reliability, reducing maintenance downtime and optimising asset performance throughout the lifecycle of their operations.
