New Self-Cleaning Technology helps repel dirt, minimizes maintenance time
Sherwin-Williams introduces new Emerald Rain Refresh Exterior Acrylic Latex with Self-Cleaning Technology, an innovative coating designed to be self-cleaning by shedding dirt upon contact with rain or water. Emerald Rain Refresh gives professionals and homeowners a simple and convenient solution to maintain clean exteriors for a freshly painted look all year long.
“Exterior painting can be a time-consuming task, and typically requires constant maintenance against outdoor elements,” said Rick Watson, director of product information and technical services at Sherwin-Williams. “Emerald Rain Refresh easily washes away dirt to make upkeep easier and achieve a cleaner look to increase curb appeal.”
Sherwin-Williams successfully leveraged the Self-Cleaning Technology developed in Loxon Self-Cleaning Acrylic Coating and applied it to the latest addition to the best-in-class Emerald product line – Emerald Rain Refresh. The brand-new coating has optimal application properties, simplifying the painting process for all experience levels.
Additional features include:

- Self-priming application to help save time during the painting process
- An innovative formula suitable for most exterior surfaces, including wood, masonry and concrete
- Ability to tint in VinylSafe paint colors, allowing customers to select from a limited number of darker colors formulated to resist warping or buckling
