Nalco Chemical Company Forms New Business Unit to Address Outsourcing Needs

Nalco Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux, announced that it has formed a new business unit called Nalco Industrial Outsourcing (NIO) to address the growing trend toward outsourcing non-core business operations.

Nalco and the companies of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux will work together to offer customers assistance in the areas of raw water clarification, boiler feed water preparation, cooling water processing, wastewater treatment, boiler and power generation operations, total chemical management, waste management, and energy and fuel management. NIO plans to offer customers an integrated approach to managing these areas.

Nalco and Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux will combine Nalco's expertise in industrial water treatment and process chemicals with Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux's expertise in water treatment process design and water management services. NIO will also work closely with United Water Resources, an affiliate of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux located in Harrington Park, NJ. United Water Resources operates municipal water treatment facilities in the U.S. NIO will also work with IDI, Degremont's equipment operation based in Richmond, VA.

Leading Nalco in this new endeavor will be Bill Parry and a team of experienced managers. Parry has been named President, Nalco Industrial Outsourcing. Parry joined Nalco in 1995 as Vice President and General Counsel.

Commenting on this initiative, Nalco Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ted Mooney said, "We have an opportunity to shape a market that is global, highly specialized and critical to the needs of our customers. As this process continues, Nalco Industrial Outsourcing will expand rapidly in 2000 and beyond as it takes on increasingly complex outsourcing projects. Within five years we expect to obtain contracts valued at $2.5 billion with an annual revenue stream of $150 million."
