The Nitreg-ONC (Oxy-Nitro-Carburizing) process is considered a superior,
environmentally-friendly alternative to chrome plating. This process is
based on the Nitreg technology, but produces a modified complex diffusion
white layer which contains an increased concentration of carbon, oxygen,
and sulphur and is characterized by a deep black colour.
The superficial layer modified during the ONC treatment retains its exceptional wear, anti-scuffing and anti-seizing properties imparted by the Nitreg process. However, the ONC process provides the components made of carbon or low alloy steels with a corrosion resistance equal to or better than that of stainless steel.
