PEGCO is a subsidiary of Kearsarge Peg Co., Inc. which was estblished in 1865 as a manufacturer of hardwood pegs serving primarily the shoe manufacturing industry. In the early 20th century the product also began to be used in combination with abrasive and polishing products as finishing media in barrel finish processes. Manufacturers of plastic eyeglass frames, buttons and plastic novelties as well manufacturers of fine and costume jewelry used these processes to develop very fine decorative reflective finishes in lieu of manual buffing procedures. PEGCO Process Laboratories was formed in 1983 to extend this technology into other metal finishing applications and to modify product and processes to fit other types of metal finishing equipment. Today, PEGCO offers a full line of mass finishing equipment and finishing supplies. Its process laboratory develops processes for industry in vibratory, centrifugal and barrel finish equipment.
