Rust-Oleum Offers VOC-Compliant Coatings
Vernon Hills, IL - Beginning July 1, 2006, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) reduced the permissible volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions of industrial maintenance coatings from 250 grams/liter (g/l) to 100 g/l. The SCAQMD covers Orange County and portions of Riverside, Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. Those violating Rule 1113 emission regulations could face penalties of up to $25,000 per day, per incident in the SCAQMD, according to Rust-Oleum Corporation.
Although the change from 250 g/l to 100 g/l is a dramatic VOC emission reduction for industrial maintenance coatings, Rust-Oleum offers products that comply with the new VOC laws. The company's Sierra Performance industrial coatings are an entire line of products that has Zero VOC, Zero Hazardous Air Pollutants, and no odor, claims the company.
In addition to the Sierra Performance line, Rust-Oleum also offers High Performance sprays, Industrial Choice sprays, and Mathys coatings that meet or exceed the VOC requirements in the SCAQMD. Also compliant are floor coatings including Concrete Saver, Concrete Protection Systems and Epoxy Shield®, adds the company. Rust-Oleum claims that its coatings are easy to apply, fast drying, lengthen the lifetime of your assets, and are as durable as they are safe.
