Standex Forms Strategic Partnership With LightWork Design
The partnership will create a range of solutions that will give designers a reliable and accurate flow of design specification data throughout the whole art-to-part process, from initial design stage to rapid prototyping, mold preparation and final product manufacturing.

The Standex Engraving Group and LightWork Design are the industry leaders in their respective markets. Standex operates 19 engraving plants around the world with additional licensees in Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Bohemia and Russia. LightWorks(R), LightWork Design's design visualization solution, is the leading photo-realistic rendering engine for 3D CAD software applications. Applications that incorporate this software enable designers and engineers to accurately visualize their 3D computer models at the design stage.
There are more than 80 CAD applications based on LightWorks in use by more than 3/4 million designers worldwide. The solutions created by the partnership with Standex will give this large user base the ability to select, accurately visualize and specify Mold-Tech(R) and Roehlen embossing textures directly within their CAD software. In this way, designers can access a wide range of variations in surface finish before the product manufacturing stage to create higher quality products for the consumer.
The companies also intend the partnership to lead to the creation of a range of add-on libraries for LightWorks(R) to be used by any LightWorks(R)-based rendering application. These material libraries will accurately simulate the surface appearance of the selected commercial textures. One of the many benefits from this partnership will be to provide Mold-Tech(R) customer's accurate renderings, allowing for faster design decisions and improved time to market. Additionally, renderings can be rapidly manufactured using Standex's new Model-Tech(R) process that imparts high-quality surface finishes to rapid prototype parts.
