Sulfuric.com to distribute Inco nickel plating products
Sulfuric.com (LaVergne, TN, USA), one of the metal finishing industry's major business-to-business e-commerce websites, has entered into an agreement with Toronto, ON, Canada-based Inco Ltd., the nickel producer, to distribute the latter's nickel products for nickel plating applications.
Among the Inco products being made available through Surface Finishing.com are the S-Nickel Rounds, a nickel anode suitable for basket plating. According to the company, these pellets are made using a special gas refining process that keeps a small amount of sulfur in the nickel to "maximize its electro-chemical activity," said Inco. The fully active pellets dissolve at 100 percent efficiency in plating solutions, resulting in lower resistance to current flow and thus the use of less electricity.

The Inco R-Rounds electrolytic nickel is, unlike its S-Round counterpart, not activated. Its shape makes it especially suitable for use with titanium anode baskets and helps prevent the "bridging" of material as it is dissolved, says its manufacturer. It is important to add chlorides to the plating solution for this material to dissolve, as it does not dissolve uniformly.
The company's S-Nickel pellets, like the S-Rounds, are fully activated and are manufactured in the same manner as the S-Rounds. They also dissolve in much the same way as the S-Rounds. However, their spherical shape allows exceptional flowability, making it simple to fill anode baskets of various shapes and sizes, either manually or automatically. In addition, their high packing density and flowability make the S-Nickel pellets ideal for high-speed plating and electroforming applications.

Finally, Sulfuric.com is authorized to distribute Inco's 1- x 1-in. electrolytic nickel squares for plating. The non-activated, high-purity nickel is produced by an electrowinning process. According to Inco, the 1- x 1-in. squares are the most popular size for plating operations.
