Abstract: The ALTIM surface treatment process, based on micro-arc oxidation (MAO),patented by the French company Mofratech represents a full-scale technological revolution in the field of Aluminum, Titanium and Magnesium. Some other metals with similar properties could be also coated with this process. It offers superior performance, with regard to hardness, substrate adherence, wear and corrosion resistance, electrical and thermal insulation. It is virtually pollution-free and for these reasons has huge application potential.
